My childhood in one sentence. I remember when I was a little boy, I would wake up early, get dressed, grab a bowl of nutri-grain cereal and switch on Cheez TV to see the next exciting installment of Yu-Gi-Oh! Around that time, I would also go down to the local $2 store and buy cheap fake versions of the cards, granted I couldn't afford the real deal being a 9 year old, and play against my friends at school during lunch. Oh were those the days.
Alas with all things that we do as a kid, we grow up and get into new and different hobbies and interests. This lead to what felt like a millennia, (when in reality was 12 years) of not playing the game or watching it at all. Soon this all changed!
Recently my closest friend and I were talking about getting into a card game together. We thought of Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Vanguard! and even DragonBall Z, but each time we would circle back to our childhood and that glorious moment we would summon one of the incredible Egyptian God cards and wipe the floor in an exciting Yu-Gi-Oh! match. He had still been up to date and in fact had a deck ready. So weeks later I said let's do it and so begins the tale of duel monsters!
Hyper-Focus Engage!
First things first. This game ain't nothing like what we used to play back in the good old days. Now there is a bunch of fusion summoning like XYZ, Synchro, Pendulum, and the newest fusion summoning, Link. What the heck is pendulum?? This still confuses me no matter how many times I re-read how it works and watch a bunch of video's. Well guess what, new rules means being glued to the screen and that is barely the start of it. Still had to pick an Archetype to make my deck around. I guess this meant the whole what theme or type of deck. You want a dragon deck or one with zombies, hell what about space robots. Then comes to buying the cards and oh boy is this hobby super expensive.
Well, it has definitely caught my attention and with lots of information, deck testing, and purchasing my deck, this is going to be a new exciting series to kick start this blog.
Until next time!
